Ravens looking to appeal to younger generation with upcoming M&T Bank Stadium renovation

South ClubRavens/M&T Bank Stadium

The Ravens are facing a “balancing act” as they undertake a $430M renovation of M&T Bank Stadium over the next three seasons, according to Garret Dvorkin of the BALTIMORE BUSINESS JOURNAL. The team is “trying to walk a tightrope of keeping its older fan base happy while trying to appeal to a growing base of younger fans and providing luxury options that keep the stadium on pace with the rest of the league." One major function of the renovations involves “overhauling the stadium’s premium offerings,” including adding special clubs, new field-level seats along the sidelines and 10 ultra-premium BlackWing suites. But with these upgrades, hundreds of Ravens PSL holders in the west endzone will "have their seats moved to make way for new field-level endzone suites." Ravens SVP/Ticket Sales & Operations Baker Koppelman said that the team is taking this chance to modernize its stadium and “really address its one weakness: a lack of premium options.” Ravens SVP/Marketing Brad Downs said that the next wave of fans want "more of an 'experience' at the stadium that goes beyond the game." Koppelman said that the new premium offerings also are a way for teams across the league to “beef up their revenue” and the Ravens want to “feed the growing appetite among fans for more premium options while also trying to jump up the revenue rankings themselves.” Koppelman: “As counterparts build new stadiums, it is hard to compete with in terms of keeping up. This is our means of doing that” (BALTIMORE BUSINESS JOURNAL, 3/14).
