Best Sports Business Cities — Ones to watch: Portland

Like many of the cities on this list, Portland’s airport is in the midst of a major renovation (to the tune of $5 billion), which is supposed to wrap up in 2025. The city’s downtown has expanded its hotel room inventory by about 40% in the last seven years, during which it completed a $40 million overhaul of the Oregon Convention Center (above). That venue, along with Moda Center in the Rose Quarter district, are key draws for event-hosting in the city. — B.M.
