Pirates' Bednar becomes first active player to be featured on Pittsburgh Brewing can

Pittsburgh Brewing Co.’s I.C. Light unveiled a limited-edition 12-ounce commemorative can that depicts Pirates P David Bednar “winding up for a throw,” making him the “first active professional athlete” featured by Pittsburgh Brewing on an I.C. Light can, according to Haley Daugherty of TRIBLIVE. But it is “not the first time he’s partnered with the company” -- he appeared on Pittsburgh Brewing billboards and promotional schedules last year. The company’s relationship with Bednar “started when he was selected as an MLB All-Star in 2022 and was gifted a case of I.C. Light rather than the traditional bottle of champagne” by Pirates manager Derek Shelton. Bednar joins a list of Pittsburgh sports legends, like Football HOFers Chuck Noll, Bill Cowher, Jerome Bettis and Dan Marino, to be featured on an I.C. Light can (TRIBLIVE, 4/6).
