ACC Files Lawsuit Against Maryland, Possibly Over Exit Fee

The ACC filed a lawsuit against the Univ. of Maryland in North Carolina state court after the school last week announced it intends to join the Big Ten. A state court clerk confirmed that the case was filed yesterday in Greensboro. The lawsuit, "which the clerk said is a contract suit, is likely regarding payment" of the $50M exit fee required to leave the ACC. Maryland and Florida State Univ. were the only two member schools to vote against the exit fee increase in September (DUKECHRONICLE.com, 11/27).
