Falcons, Mercedes-Benz Offer More Details Of Naming-Rights Deal

The Falcons and Mercedes-Benz today unveiled details of the naming-rights deal for the team's new stadium, and sources said that the agreement is worth $12M annually (Don Muret, Staff Writer). Falcons Owner Arthur Blank and Mercedes-Benz USA President & CEO Steve Cannon revealed the deal is for 27 years. Cannon added that it is the "largest marketing deal" in the company's history (AJC.com, 8/24).

Cannon said of the carmaker also having its name on the Superdome, "To have two stadiums in the same division, you wouldn't plan it that way. But sometimes opportunities come your way that are too good to turn down." A video rendition of the new facility shows that Mercedes-Benz "will have its name plastered in numerous locations inside and out, including its familiar three-pointed logo on the top of the retractable roof" (AP, 8/24).
