Chick-Fil-A "Fowl Shot" Promotion Paying Dividends For Jazz, Bulls, Wizards

The Jazz, Bulls and Wizards are participating in the "Fowl Shot promotion during fourth quarters of their home games, offering a Chick-fil-A Chicken sandwich to every fan in attendance when an opposing player misses consecutive free throws," according to Chris Herring of the WALL STREET JOURNAL. It is difficult to "gauge exactly how much the extra noise impacts foul shooters," but there are a "handful of indications that the distractions are forcing more misses." There is "reason to believe the Fowl Shot promotion helps win games," and last season, the Wizards "led the NBA in scenarios where a visiting player missed consecutive fourth-quarter free-throws." Visiting the arenas, it is "easy to notice when the promotion is in play" (WALL STREET JOURNAL, 3/17).
