German Sports TV Network Sport1 Talking To NFL About New Media Rights Deal In Germany

German sports TV network Sport1 is talking to the NFL about a new broadcast rights deal. A Sport1 spokesperson told SBD Global, "We are currently in discussions with a view to the coming season." The channel's previous deal with the league expired at the end of last season. The news follows Wednesday's announcement of an increased media rights deal between the NFL and ProSiebenSat.1. The German media corporation, which signed a new three-year deal with the league, will show 50 live games per season on free-TV starting this September. Sport1's dedicated U.S. sports channel, Sport1 US, aired up to seven games per week during the regular season. The subscription-based channel also showed all playoff matchups and the Super Bowl live, with either German or original English commentary.
