Nike Reveals New Football Kits For England, France, Portugal Ahead Of Euro 2016

Nike revealed the new England home and away kits "for the forthcoming European Championships in France," according to Mark Critchley of the London INDEPENDENT. Roy Hodgson’s side will line up for England's tournament opener against Russia at the Stade Vélodrome in Marseille "while decked out in a rather unorthodox strip." The latest home kit design "loses the all-white colour scheme of recent years but does not return to the traditional white shirt, navy shorts, white socks standard" (INDEPENDENT, 3/17). In London, Lawrence Ostlere wrote the "unusual new home kit comprises white shirt and shorts with blue trim, grey-blue sleeves and shoulders, and striking red socks." The red away kit "carries the same design but with blue socks, and dark red sleeves and shoulders." The FA said that the "red away shirt commemorates the 50th anniversary of England’s 1966 World Cup success at Wembley" (GUARDIAN, 3/17). The French national team as well as the Portuguese national team also released their Nike kits.
