Brazilian Clubs Sign Broadcast Rights Deal With Esporte Interativo

Brasileiro sides Santos, Atlético Paranense and Internacional have "signed broadcast rights deals with the Turner Group-operated sports channel Esporte Interativo," according to SOCCEREX. Atlético and Internacional have both "benefited from the individually negotiated nature of TV rights in the country, gaining considerable increases over their previous deals with Globo." Inter's two-year contract is worth an initial R$13M ($3.5M) over two years, "with an option to extend for a further four years" at a value of R$40M ($11M). The values for the other two deals were not disclosed, although it was announced that "Santos have signed an agreement for the full six years." The deals "all apply to the local TV rights for home matches." Currently, Globo still "holds the nationwide rights to the Brasileirão" until '19, with little reported interest from rival bidders (SOCCEREX, 3/16).
