Jose Reyes Suspended Without Pay For 51 Games In Total

Rockies SS Jose Reyes on Friday was suspended by MLB without pay through May 31, 51 games total, for "violating its domestic violence policy." Reyes' suspension is "retroactive to Feb. 23, when he was first placed on paid administrative leave." He has "missed 34 games, and there are 17 more Rockies games scheduled this month." Reyes "will be docked" approximately $7.09M of his $22M salary. Reyes also "pledged to donate $100,000 to domestic violence charities" ( DENVER POST, 5/14 ). Reyes "had the right to appeal the suspension but chose not to, and he issued a statement of contrition" through the MLBPA ( N.Y. TIMES, 5/14 ).
